Certification

The Weather Modification Association has established criteria and procedures for the certification of weather modification operators and managers.  Details are provided below.  Additional information, and answers to related questions can be obtained by request submitted to wxmod@comcast.net, or in writing to:

Weather Modification Operators

Certification shall be granted by the Certification Board, which shall require the following as minimum qualifications:

(A)  Twenty months' actual "in the field" experience in weather modification research and/or operations,

or

(B)  A degree with at least 25 semester hours of meteorology and eight months' actual "in the field" experience in weather modification operations and/or research.

Weather Modification Managers

Certification shall be granted by the Certification Board, which shall require the following as minimum qualifications:

(A)  Eight years' experience in weather modification research and/or operations,

or

(B)  A Bachelor's degree with at least 25 semester hours of meteorology and five years' actual "in the field" experience in weather modification operations and/or research,

or

(C)  A Master's Degree or Doctorate in Atmospheric Science and three years (36 active months) experience in weather modification research and/or operations.
